Here at Commins & Co, we provide a service whereby it is possible to design your own engagement ring. This is a great option if you do not see your perfect engagement ring on our website. These rings are all designed and made in our Dublin city centre workshop. All bespoke pieces are of the highest quality with checks taken at every stage of the design to ensure that the ring is made to last.
1. Get in contact
The first step on your journey to designing your unique, bespoke ring is to get in contact with us to book your initial consultation. This can be done through email at info@comminsandco.ie or by phone at +353 (0)1 4422472. Alternatively, you can just pop into us in store. Our jewellers are located on the first floor of the Powerscourt Townhouse in the heart of Dublin’s city centre.
2. Meet with us
When you do pop in to us, we will go through all the options that we have in store. You can narrow down the design features that you like and dislike. During this consultation, if you have an image that you are taking inspiration for your design from, we can discuss this in further detail and the possibilities for this creation. Once the setting is decided, we will also discuss your centre stone. Whether it is a diamond, moissanite or gemstone, we can show you many loose stones to ensure that you get the best stone for your budget. For this reason, it is best to call ahead before popping in so we can have the stones ready to view.
3. Designing the ring
Once the design idea has been thoroughly discussed and decided upon, we just take a 10% deposit. This allows our designer to begin the process of creating a CAD image of the ring. We take the specifications from the consultation and designs the ring accordingly. This is then sent to you where you can easily alter the design and make tweaks to ensure you are getting the ring you imagined.
4. Making the ring
Once we get your full approval of the design, the process of making the ring begins! The first step is to 3D print the ring in our offices into wax. This is then cast i.e. turning the wax into metal. Once this is complete, our goldsmith assembles the ring by hand and polishes it. The diamond setter will also set the diamonds. This all happens in Dublin city centre. The last step is a thorough inspection of the ring to ensure that it adheres to our extremely high standards.
5. Collection
This process takes approximately 4 weeks but can vary depending on the design and its difficulty. Once the ring is ready for collection, we will contact you via email and it is up to you when you come in to collect it. Upon collection, along with ring, you will also receive an independent valuation. This is useful for insurance purposes. You’ll also receive the certificate of the diamond.
